← Dear 15200 students, □ □ : There's no easy way to say this. If you took your final exam from Dec. 12-14, the testing center accidentally threw out your exam packet. This is obviously an extremely disappointing development, and I have escalated this to the Dean of the School of Science. A meeting will take place later this week, in part to determine what changes should be made to the testing center's operating procedure. But for now, we are stuck with the situation in hand. OP • 13h ● sheepman39 "Scoring Method 2: For each free response question, I'll award 10 points for a wrong answer and 30 points for a right answer, with no exceptions." And you'll get the best score out of whatever. Not great but it's the best prof can do G 43.1k

zzzzzShow • 11h How does this work if they don't have the response packets to determine whether the answer was right or wrong? ... 723

sheepman39 OP • 11h So there are a few multiple choice questions and free response questions. Both questions/answers are given online and the packet is just to show your work. Hence why option 1 is to explain what you would have done and option 2 is to say eh you probably understood part of it so have partial points. 1.1k

MM_mama 10h ● So they DO have all your answers just not the part where you show your work? 498

sheepman39 OP 10h Correct the problem is that it is easy to make a mistake with the numbers but the method is completely sound or any other error that shows understanding but a missed force here or something. Free response questions pretty much rely on showing the work in order to have a chance of scoring well 4956

3rdp0st 9h Wait what? My physics exams were multiple choice, our work didn't count for anything, and many of the wrong choices resulted from simple mistakes like sign errors. Excuse me, I'm going to go yell at a cloud. 分 207 凸

RedditorsAreAssss • 8h That's terrible. I used to grade physics exams and the actual answer was only worth maybe 20% of the credit for the problem. The rest was distributed between just setting up the problem correctly and the intermediate work. 388

sheepman39 OP. 12h Oh totally agree, my prof is very chill and understanding about life. Also the dorms are all closed sooo good luck getting people back. I just really want to know how it even happened. We use the same procedure for the past 5 tests and now this happens? ↑ 6k

Taolan13 10h ● One likely scenario, because I have seen it happen in other office environments, is that this was an overnight cleaning crew throwing out stacks of paper because they were too close to an overflowing trash bin without looking at what the papers were. 4111

chillchinchilla17. 10h I remember a friend in high school, the teacher who (and I don't say this lightly) probably had dementia or just some form of memory issues from her old age admitted to losing her test (it was a team exam) so she just gave her a 7. Even though she had one of the highest grades for our generation. 187
